May as well have titled this one "Hollywood sucks a cock."

A star studded cast somehow brings pure mediocrity to life. The premise and characters start out ok and it has a chance but it is formatted with constant reminders/cutsways about how gay the acting world is. Takes away from the movie entirely making the plot slow and taking away from its strength.

It was a different concept they tried and it didn't work. Too many characters, too much unnessarcay information. A couple of laughs. I thought the kids who were acting in this did a great job and the movie should have been about them. (Calm down, paul)

I think they were done a disservice having these characters high jacked by forcing washed up actors in with useless parts. They could have carried this and made it watchable but of course Hollywood had to violet them sexually and professionally.

3/10...for this cast they should be ashamed

Saw it yesterday and agree. Wes Anderson's films have really declined in quality since Grand Budapest. I didn't hate it as much as French Dispatch, but Anderson just feels creatively bankrupt at this point and does the same shit over and over again and people eat it up. The whole play within a movie plot didn't work at all and was more distracting than anything. What annoyed me the most is just how little it actually amounted to at the end.

I normally like Wes Anderson a lot, but something about this one struck me as weak. Sad to hear it sucks.
At this point in his career I feel like Wes Anderson just doesn't have anything left to say. His last 3 movies have all been boring homages or tributes to genres or forms of entertainment he likes, but not in a way that's interesting to anyone but himself. But as long as he can get large ensemble casts and make a movie look great critics will eat it up. I've enjoyed a lot of his work, but at this point he's just sniffing his own farts.

Gene Hackman mercilessly bulled Wes Anderson during the filming of Royal Tenebaums. Called him a cunt, a sissy, and told him to pull up his pants and act like a man.
Just another reason why I love Gene Hackman
That's literally because Anderson wanted to make art and Hackman wanted to make a shit movie for some easy money. He signed on thinking it was just going to be a dumb comedy he could breeze through and when Anderson actually cared about the movie, taking time with the framing, etc, Hackman got pissy.
