The fact that Howard Stern never acknowledged them or uttered their names his whole supposed 'feud' with them tells me there really wasn't much of a feud to begin with. He saw them rightfully as ambitious, plagiarizing nobodies that don't deserve free advertisement by his acknowledgement.

My introduction to O&A was a collection of Patrice shows. As a first time listener of them, I was amazed. The way he worked with those guys was astounding, I dare say some shows came rather close to Golden Age Stern. That led me to other Cellar Crew shows, and again I came away impressed.

Then, against my fan/friends warnings, I started to delve deeper as a way to pass time between shows. I probably shouldn't have - the later years SiriusXM was filled with so much tension I actually stopped listening to that era on tour all together. So, I jumped to WNEW, and barring some key moments, I didn't like a whole lot of that era, either. In fact, I questioned how the hell the sissy Mary and the dinner masher ever made it big.

In my view, their weaknesses were hidden pretty well when other comedians came in. I called it The Jackie Effect - you can give Jackie Martling all the shit you want, but practically every great line Howard ever said, he read off of Lotus Notes or thrown paper from Jackie himself. Jack made him better, and it was a noticeable difference after he left (which I believe to this day is why Howard held such a long time grudge about it). The Cellar Crew maybe didn't write anything for Ant and Ope, but I do believe they challenged them to be on their game and remotely focused. So the two had potential, but were too lazy to truly use it.

What’s he doing? He was getting 1 or 2 million a year in pity money, knowing they would fire him whenever they pleased. He was never close in popularity to Rogan, let alone Stern. Was the Opie love bit a mistake? I remember people on Reddit thinking it was gonna bother Nana, but then it delved into acting like he actually had any talent. “Steering the ship” was not talent, considering all three suck. They had to rely on outside factors to keep the show working.
