Grew up in the Boston area and everyone thought talking like a retard was "cool"
I grew up directly next to Boston. I remember working once in Western Mass, 150 miles or from the city, and had a guy with an extremely obnoxious accent that made no sense for him to have. I asked if he had grown up in that particular area and he confirmed. I just remembered saying "man I grew up right in the city and sound somewhat normal." Just to let him know I knew he was embellishing the accent. He didn't speak much after that. It was kinda funny.
