Now why would God tell Moses to put cherubim on the Ark of the Covenant if doing so would constitute what Protestants would consider to be idol worship? I guess God didn't consult Luther first or sumtin'?

What I'm getting at is that pulling a Bible verse out of your pocket as some sort of "gotcha" isn't much of a flex when someone else can quote another verse that undercuts if not contradicts it. It's a mistake to rest your faith solely on bits of isolated text.
