It really was losing Ade that ruined. We just came in and took advantage of a broken man. If he was in a happy place, he never would have engaged us. His whole stupid writer/pundit persona was nothing but a way to spite Ade with his future success.

Rick was probably a miserable prick back then. Ade enabled it until she realized she couldn’t raise two kids. Women will do all sorts of mental gymnastics to rationalize why they’re still with a POS of a man. No marriage is perfect and Rick’s likely always been a delusional faggot. It’s not that she’s the one that got away, it’s that she cracked those delusions and showed him who he really is; a massive faggot. It disrupted his carefully built persona of being the coolest and most desirable man in his friend circle of fatties, nerds and smelly weirdos. A fat bald guy took his woman and his child. Hard to square that mentally with being Mama Raven's perfect boy. Hence his first impulse was to murder them both to regain control over them.
