Meh, Ukraine is proving pretty goddamn useful at blunting the Russia-China alliance. We give them weapons, they fight and die for their country while embarrassing Russia and stopping their spread into Lithuania/Estonia/etc. Russians think they have a right to any piece of land they ever owned at any time. They will be a fucking menace so long as they need to distract their people from their abysmal living conditions.
The Russians are butthurt about losing the Cold War and the bug people are plotting every day to one day kill a bunch of Americans so they can have their moment in the sun. Need to hurt them and their allies any way we can.

Russia and Ukraine share a border for more than 1200 miles.
All manner of misery has come across that border into Russia and they’ve had enough. I don’t blame them. I don’t particularly like the Russians, nor do I trust them, and I never will. But I’ve heard horror stories of the shit that comes across that border.

Probably about as bad as the Russians on the other side. Lots of Eastern European/Eurasian hicks in those parts. I had a boss from St. Petersburg years ago. Hardcore nationalist, rightwinger. He was saying back in 2011 that Ukraine isn't a country and is Russian soil by right. I think this opinion is much more at the heart of why Russia invaded. Ukraine sucks, they are animals, we hate them, blah blah blah also we want them to be part of our country for some reason. Putin was also telling US diplomats in 2001 that Ukraine was not a country. Kind of showed his hand there.
That being said, I'm sure the US is writing off 25% of everything we send over there as future Black Market goods. 50% will be used, 25% retained. The heavy stuff we sent over apparently has tracking devices in case we want to see where it ends up. But those Stingers and shit? Come on.
