I've switched almost exclusively to "cromulent" in my everyday speech to avoid this very thing. Which is annoying, as "valid" is a perfectly cromulent word. Same with "toxic" or "literally" or "liberal" or "conservative" or "skeptic" or "science", everything has faggoty connotations now. Children's ice cream, Mandrake!
