Didn't he literally say something like this about his supposed ADD? That he could see through the therapists' trickery about it?
Some of y'all got to re-read "Depression as a Muse":

"My monster consumed my sense of self-esteem and worth, leaving me with nothing to fight back against it. I entered counseling for a time, searching out new weapons, but growing up with a psychologist for a mother, I knew the score and saw through the manipulations designed to help me find my way out again. My monster turned my intelligence and stubbornness against me, convincing me that it was right using my own greatest strengths and defining characteristics to do it, convincing me that it was actually my voice I was hearing, instead of its lies"

Edit: He really wrote that. https://www.patrickstomlinson.com/2014/08/12/robin-williams-and-depression-as-a-muse/

“Right after high school, it almost got my little brother, but failed”

The monster really had a chance to change the world for the better but failed miserably. Even it is a fat lazy layabout that can’t do anything right.

It's not even the "intelligence", it's the monster turning his "stubbornness" against him. Google image search the word "stubborn" and this comes up:

That's what people associate with "stubborn". A little kid, arms crossed, making an angry face because mommy wants them to eat their vegetables.

But not Rick, he sees his stubbornness as a positive characteristic that, along with his intelligence, the monster turned against him. Rick honestly believes that one of the best things about Rick is Rick's need to always get Rick's way.

The “intelligence” that couldn’t even get through community college. He really believes he’s the smartest and greatest person ever when there’s a mountains of evidence that prove otherwise. They say as you get older you figure out what’s really important and how to live your life which is to be humble. Pat has never learned that because he’s a bitter and miserable failure of man. And my god is he fat.
