Actually, Rick, I think Kyle was just a 17 year old kid with a narrow worldview who, like most kids his age, was easily swept up into the idealistic notion that he could intervene and make a difference in a riot. You can call him a lot of things, but cowardly simply isn't a term that applies. He ran into the fire and exercised a level of discipline that few trained law enforcement officers would be able to demonstrate in the same situation. I am very glad he walked, but I pray that this experience has taught him that there's no reward for playing hero and it's always better to mind your own fucking business than get involved in horseshit like that.
