The fact that it's a slur at all is kind of a weird catch 22 that no one has the balls to point out. People will refer to when homosexuals were burned with bundles of sticks and people yelled faggot whilst they threw them without pointing out that they were being burned for witchcraft, one small aspect of which is homosexuality (fuckin' gays making it all about them).

The word faggot primarily refers to a behavioral type (ie. stop being a faggot) so therefore if you were to take offense to the adopted meaning of the word as a slur for homos, you are the one assigning that meaning to the word. Most reasonable, well meaning people accept that not all gay men are mincing soggybottoms and there's loads of ones that act normal and you don't even know they're gay. It's the same as the word "gay". They adopted it and when people turned it into a slur they got mad. If you keep acting like faggots people are going to point it out. We oughta know we've been getting DMs about it all weekend.
