"Fat. Fat doesn’t exist. The growth of a waistband is an illusion. And the scale is the magician.
Because diet only lets you eat one meal at a time. You remember your meatloaf and Budweiser yesterday, you hope for a bologna sandwich and Milwaukee's Best tomorrow, so it feels like you are traveling from one meal to the other, but nobody’s moving anywhere!
Movies don’t really move, child. They’re just pictures of superheroes – lots and lots of pictures, all of them still, none of them moving, just frozen moments, like me on the fart couch. But if you experience those colorful spandex pictures one after the other, with food and drink in hand, then you can live through them. You can be your own hero against the villains of the world.
Imagine if tweeting all happened at once. Every moment of your life, your brilliant thoughts and musings laid out around you like a city. Followers growing, engagement increasing, blue checks-marking. From the day you were born, to the day you die. The day you fall in love with your first wife, to the day you find your second, better wife.
A whole life, built from sassing and quipping, touting and torquing, not letting the idiots win. Spending your work-free days at a Brewers game with questionable company, and your lonely nights at Hooligans, drinking piss swill with your laptop to your left and your novels to hand-sell on your right - It’s the best place you will ever be.
Fat is a structure relative to ourselves. Fat is the space made by our lives where we stand together, waiting quietly for the knock, forever. We are not just number 1, we are more than 1:
1.7.
It means life."
