You just know he left all that shit there until someone got tired of them being in the way and threw them in the trash or took them to resell at a bookstore. I'm sure seeing that empty table 6 hours later when he left the bar made him feel really good.
He didnt want to drag 2 cases of books back to the car so he gave them away and wrote them off on his taxes.

He could’ve walked away from table and came back the next day without a single one being stolen.

I heard people just leave money on his table out of pity and don’t take a book.

And he first began writing because he wasn't satisfied with Douglas Adams' Hitchhikers ending.
