Editors Note (February 7, 2022): Following publication of the below article, an anonymous writer published an essay claiming to have tricked this article's author freelance writer Seth Simons into believing that a forum user known as ToxicCisWhiteMaleFat was comedy club owner Cris Italia. Although The New Republic was unable to reach the anonymous writer to verify the claims in that essay, all indications are that Mr. Simons was catfished. Thus, we have updated the article to remove references to the "mole" mentioned as a source, as well as all language suggesting that Mr. Italia might be ToxicCisWhiteMaleFat the evidence for which, it is now clear, was bogus. To the extent that the article linked hateful speech to Mr. Italia, any such attribution was in error. This article did not meet TN's standards, and we apologize to Mr. Italia and our readers for not fact-checking it more thoroughly.
The thing I don’t get is whats the point now. Ok, Shane Gillis is friends with Louis CK and Chappelle: Two “controversial” comedians who’ve been redeemed in the public eye. But lets say thats still not acceptable. What is the end goal? Get Shane Gillis to not associate with them? To get him fired from…Netflix, who has no moral or profit incentive to do so?You can read the first part, rest is paywalled.
Basically Gillis is evil because he's friends with door blocker Louis CK and tranny-laugher-at Dave Chappelle.
Shane Gillis is Guilty... by Association. The thing I don’t get is whats the point now. Oh wait yeah thats the entire point, to basically shun the person out of existence. For these people its not enough to just not like and watch someone, maybe even tell your friends not to watch them, no, EVERYONE in the world must hate them and they have to be unemployable now. When “cancel culture” first came around they parroted this idea of “consequences” and “taking responsibility.” the aforementioned CK is a perfect example of that. Got outed, slinked away from the limelight, came back small and now he’s about where he was. People still bring up his misconduct shit despite anyone choosing to work with him already knowing about it. Now we have Shane Gillis. The guy got fucking fired from SNL and already faced the “consequences.”
I’m rambling but when the Greaseman made his comments he went on a black talk show begging for forgiveness. He literally asked the crowd if he had to be crucified in order to be forgiven. 80% of the audience believed he could NEVER be redeemed. You don’t have to be a genius to know this is dangerous and retarded. The Greaseman and Shane Gillis isn’t Hitler, some inspiring figures with the goals of turning people racist and killing others or some shit. They’re fucking clowns.
Shane was smart enough to leave compound media in the dust after joining it. He didn't even build much of a following from it (obviously). He clearly realized that CPM was a fucking dead end and left to only prove he was funny enough to sustain a large enough following that Chapelle and Louis C.K. wanted to be in his orbit. The thing I don’t get is whats the point now. I literally forgot he was on Compound. The key to Compound Media is it’s two things: A jumping off point or a final destination. For guys like Ant and maybe Gavin it’s the resting place of their careers. If you don’t get burned by Nana and have the smarts to leave you’re definitely smart enough to make it in comedyShane was smart enough to keave compound media in the dust after joining it. Really, there's no goal. It's a hail-mary shot at cancellation again, but it's mostly just the ramblings of a kid who lost bad, and literally had to run away in fear. It's like catching a beating from someone bigger than you as a kid, and after they walk away you're going "HA HA that didn't hurt! See? Try harder next time!"...it's just a last-ditch attempt at saving your dignity. The thing I don’t get is whats the point now. It's why Seth focused on Sam Hyde and Nick Rochefort, they're hot on youtube. It's just him trying to get some buzz even though the last time Shane, Sam and Nick hung out was almost a year ago now.I literally forgot he was on Compound. I hate that this guy comes up when I’m trying to laugh at Seth cockfieldView attachment 148768

Sam isn’t even that funny. He’s just the ugly weird kid that the cool kids seem to find funny. It's why Seth focused on Sam Hyde and Nick Rochefort, they're hot on youtube. It's just him trying to get some buzz even though the last time Shane, Sam and Nick hung out was almost a year ago now.
Sam is currently running the channel with the highest rate of donations on youtube via live streams, that's why Seth centered on it.Sam isn’t even that funny. He’s just the ugly weird kid that the cool kids seem to find funny.
SNL doesn't hire funny people anymore so that was a good thing for Shane. The guy got fucking fired from SNL
How have they been "redeemed in the public eye?" When these no account shit stirrers apologize for being male they don't get redeemed. They just genuflect at the altar of their social masters. They become penitent jokesters and stop being funny for Jesus or whatever they worship. Nobody cares about an apologetic comedian that prefaces his jokes with trigger warnings. Nobody is cool if they're on TV. They are the worst tattle-tailing scolds that have ever been described. The thing I don’t get is whats the point now.
