Jim and Anthony envisioned this scenario where Opie would quit on his own. They would then have the A&J show. All of the listeners and comedians would side with them. They would spend hours on air doing anything that they wanted including ripping on Opie. They could get rid of bits that they hated like callers and phone topics, Jocktober, song parodies, and everything else that Opie lead. Neither of them respected Opie nor the O&A brand. So imploding the show would not be a loss for them.
You could tell during one of the top bits in the show's history, Misheard Song Lyrics, that Anthony hated the entire bit and refused to engage for the first twenty minutes. Just sitting there pouting like a little faggot as callers actually contributed and made an all time great segment. Telling Opie that he didn't want to do a 'caller bit'. But in the end Opie won and it is still one of the best moments on the show. Also a moment where Norton was once again missing due to his standup career.
They were delusional thinking that they could carry a show or media empire on their own. Norton thought that his characters would become stars. Anthony imagined himself to be a conservative pundit. They could have porn whores and UFC wrestlers and Fox News hosts on the show all day. And no callers to challenge them. And no one like Opie to end their fun. Without Opie they have no idea how to actually do anything besides speak into the microphones.
Obviously Jim and Anthony never imagined that they would be where they are. Anthony is likely nearly broke. And wallowing in obscurity and persona non grata due to his domestic violence, drinking, and lifestyle. Every other month or so he loses another friend or finds out that they hate him now. Norton is fully wrapped in degeneracy and has to hide his personal life from the entire J&S audience because him getting fags to blow AIDS loads into him would probably end the last of his fanbase that are still clinging to him from the O&A years. Norton if you look at his behaviors is actually further in the closet now than he was a few yeas ago. Norton went on Rogan and basically said he was banging a dude with AIDS. Now he cannot admit he lives with a tranny on his own show.

That whole thing was so unbelievably humiliating that I theorized that perhaps it was part of some sort of sexual humiliation fetish he was paying his Nordic he/she for. He was swooning in front of anyone who'd listen about how he was "in love" with a "great girl", who was literally a transsexual prostitute. I’m sorry, but to me, that bit was just ok. Stern did it back around 2010, with some of the same songs (Highway to Hell, Movin Out). I could tell the callers heard it there first and decided to try to recreate the magic (or “my dick”) on O&A. How many times did Opie try to start it up again after Anth got fired, only to have dullards like Norton, Vos, Kelly and Florentine respond with no enthusiasm. Just a bunch of over the top laughter, with Sam pretending to be flustered at it all, and it gets cringe real quick.
Although it does have BroJoe calling in interrupting to plug a certain BOC performance. And everyone in the room automatically becomes annoyed.

I would agree if Norton had not done the same thing a million times before. Stories of Monster Rain and Devil's Creek. Where he is blowing kids under the porch and getting neighborhood kids to urinate in his mouth in public or getting tied to a tree and sodomized. He would always reveal the most grotesque and repulsive moments from his life with such glee. Basking in the shame like it was glory and celebrating the horrified reactions of anyone in the room hearing his tales of depravity.
He told the story on air once where he would hold in his shit during his elementary school years and refuse to go to the bathroom. And he would deliberately hold the shit in his asshole and slide it out a bit then let it go back into his body over and over. Basically imitating a cock in his asshole. He said that one time he held his shit for two or three days and then finally accidentally shit himself in class and the other students kept asking him if he "pooped his pants".
