Pat really has been conspicuously sucking up to Nikki these last couple of weeks. We know talk of an imminent divorce is horseshit but it does look like he's trying uncharacteristically hard to stay/get in her favor, suggesting some kind of tension between the lovebirdbrains.

It's obvious from their tv appearances that Rick can barely hide his delight at being given a platform lectern, and that Nikki hates the situation they're in. She's probably fucking miserable and wants all this shit to go away, and Pat's lovebombing her into staying the (his) course.
