The post-ww2 atomic testing is so ridiculous it's comical.

The Castle Bravo test turned out to be much bigger than anticipated due to an unknown reaction that took place during the fusion stage which in turn created more fuel for the bomb. I watched a doc a while ago where some of the Navy guys had to turn away and cover their faces because the sunglasses they were given did nothing, just to realize they could actually see and count individual bones in their hands.

I watched “Blood Simple” recently for the first time and thought it was cool. Hadn’t heard of it but saw it was the Coen brothers first movie so I had to check it out.

It's crazy how talented they were right out the gate. I love that movie.

It's a German film. It's absolutely cold and especially terrifying if you have a family.

They made a shot for shot American version shortly after that I've yet to see.

I Highly recommend.

I've seen both. Both are really great if you just want to watch pure horror with zero let up or happy ending.

I'm gay for liking these parts about it but

SPOILER - There being no camera on the violence and them killing off a dog and a child which are both things you just don't do in movies makes it that much more disturbing. Also how those two characters are being played like they are in a comedy while they murder that family is disturbing as hell.

i have watched 2 of the films recommended here, soylent green really hold up well and still fun to watch

watched the Funny Games remake and it was pretty good, the dudes politely fucking with the family is very entertaining, not a big fan when they with the meta "anti horror film" stuff maaaaan

i just saw soylent green for the first time last night. really enjoyed it. don't want to spoil it but it's a decent murder mystery set in a dystopian new york city.
