A few weeks ago I hosted my wife's niece's 13th birthday party because we've got a big place and I'm just such a nice guy

So the girl is my wife's sister's kid and her paternal grandparents were among the guests. Grandpa is "a wine expert" - translation: an alcoholic who thinks that knowing the names of various grape types and sniffing his first glass of the day means that drinking a bottle of red or two a night and 3 on Friday and Saturday is some kind of cultural badge of honour and not a debilitating addiction. He's 70 years old and obviously eats too much on top of his boozing, as he's very fat and has a stomach like a 9 months pregnant woman. My wife said her sister told her he has to take a handful of pills every morning to stay alive.
