Just heard the term "POC" outside of Reddit for the first time. WWYD??

I've been working with someone who seems reasonably normal - for a woman.

Then she hits me with the fact that she's starting a podcast about relationships and two of the people onboard are "POCs". I've never heard that term outside of Reddit before, but it seems that it is indeed a real thing.

I assume she told me this because she thought I would give her a round of applause for what a brave and necessary project this is.

She's honestly a pretty nice person though. Think Lesley Varney - a decent human being who perhaps has a shade too much of the maternal instinct and so is defending and putting out blankets for people who actually are doing well enough already and ignoring society's REAL victims (white Christian males).

I did the polite thing and let the conversation move on. WWYD?

This happened to me years ago with a coworker. I made him explain what a POC was, then acted really shocked like "did you just say 'colored people'??" and told the dude how it's not alright to use that word anymore. He tried to explain himself, but I stopped him and told him "I'm not here for all that racism" and left the room like I just dropped a shit in there.
