I think the scale of his celebrity fried his brain. He went from a campus-known professor posting what amounts to Power Point presentations on YouTube about Bill C-16 to a generational guru in about a year. For someone with the degree of underlying mental conditions he has, that's a trajectory almost certain to fuck you up a bit.

I think at his core he's probably a good dude -- a bookworm raised in hard drinking rural Alberta -- but he's lost the plot for quite some time now. I doubt his intellectual heroes spent nearly as much time thinking about their brand as he does.
