He also seemed like a cunt who took himself oddly seriously for a musical clown. I remember when he sued Alan Jackson (who I also can't stand) for writing a cheesy island drinking song in the style of Jimmy Buffet, then they ended up coming out with a song together.

When you think about it, this guy turned a three minute song into - literally - a Billion dollars. Music, tours, hotels/bars, 55+ housing communities ...... Really amazing when you think about it.

Ironically, for all his success I woukd guess 95% of the US population can't name more than three songs he wrote, and most of those people can only name one.

I'm guessing its out of print but back in the day he had a great live album called You Had to Be There. It was before all the parrothead nonsense.
