Is Rupert Pupkin funny?

Raymond

You will never see my penis
Watched King of Comedy for the first time today. Doesn't seem like Pupkin's issue is being bad at comedy, unlike the b-b-b-boys used to present it.

At least within the world of the movie, he seems actually funny, despite being a delusional idiot. He's obviously not great but does well enough with the audience that you can't be completely certain whether the final montage is another delusion or not. I preferred that over the Joker-like bombing I expected.

Opinions? (Other that than I'm gay for talking about a 40-year-old movie or whatever reasons)

I liked that his last set was merely mediocre. It further drove home the point others made that he could succeed if he actually worked on his material and delivery more.

At least, that's how I remember it. This movie uncomfortable to watch. Travis Bickle and Jake LaMotta were less cringe than Rupert.
