We got some real indie games fans around here (RIP Minaw) but no indie games thread, seems like a real problem tbchwy so let's solve that. Shill your favorite indie games here.

In case anyone needs some help finding cheap or free indie games:
  • https://www.indiegamebundles.com/category/free/ Updated list of free games offers. Most are limited time offers so checking the list every now and then is best.
  • https://gg.deals/news/freebies/ Another list of free game offers.
  • https://www.gog.com/en/partner/free_games This page shows the current free game offers on gog, you will need an account but you should already have one since gog is the best indie game site out there because all of the games are DRM free. This list has some permanent freebies but is occasionally updated with limited time offers I believe.
  • https://gog-games.to/ Pirate copies of games from gog so the games are DRM free. In my experience when I install the game the option to launch the game will just open my gog client and not the game and I have to open my start menu and boot the game from there.
  • Fitgirl repacks is alright for cracked games but the site is a large target for imposter sites with viruses instead of clean games and the cracks themselves often come up as false positives in antivirus scans so I'd say avoid the site unless you are confident in your ability to avoid a virus. If that's you then I'm confident you can find the link on your own.
Now that that's out of the way I'll sperg a bit about some fun indie games. I've shilled this one a few times on here but Cruelty Squad is a pretty interesting FPS game. It's hard to describe exactly but you can think of the game as Hitman meets old shooters like Goldeneye meets a drug induced dystopian setting. Each mission has one or more assassination targets and open ended maps allowing you to be creative in finishing levels given the variety of bioware mods you can buy and use. You can do ridiculous things such as use your appendix like a grappling hook to swing around the levels or use an anti-gravity implant to fly through the level by inverting gravity repeatedly (just beware of the fall damage). The game even has an easter egg that gives a nod to Terry Davis. This one was made by a single developer, some crazy Finnish guy, and there's a similar looking game coming out from him as well that has mechs and more RPG like elements called Psycho Patrol R which I'll probably grab and review here once it's available.

If you're a fan of Vampire Survivors there's a new FPS version called Vampire Hunters that just came out that is pretty fun. Kind of a combination of stuff like COD Zombies and Vampire Survivors.

Ape Out is a fun little game made during one of those indie game making competitions where they are limited in how much time they have to make a game. It's a top down game where you control a gorilla who is making an escape from captivity. You run through randomly generated levels that get progressively more difficult with interactable terrain and different enemies. You smash into enemies to kill them or you can grab them to smash them into other enemies, into walls or out of windows. Pretty simple game but very difficult to master. I'd say wait for a sale to grab this one or use the gog-games link below to pirate it.

I'm a big boomer shooter fan and recently played and beat Ion Fury which uses the same engine as Duke Nukem (I think it's actually using the Duke Nukem engine and not the Build engine?). If you like retro graphics and boomer shooters then you would definitely like this one. Including the gog-games link for pirating it. Do NOT play the sequel, Phantom Fury, as it's a completely different game built on it's own engine and it sucks compared to Ion Fury. Side-note, this game was originally called Ion Maiden but they changed the name because Iron Maiden sued them.

  • 20XX plays pretty gud. The dev(s) started to troon out with the DLC characters though and 30XX was full-blown AIDS with the faggot shit plus it isn't nearly as fun anyway.
  • The Equin games weren't bad if only because they had goofy humor. Bone Appetit is by the same guy but it's a harder recommend because it's janky even for a platformer.
  • Necro Story is shit, don't play it.
  • One Way Heroics is amusing for a few runs.
  • Secret of Varonis is a Final Fantasy Legend 2 fan game but it's pretty solid. They abandoned it right after release so no more updates or bug fixes it seems.
  • Shattered Pixel Dungeon is okay if you're into broguelikes. I am not.
  • Unepic has some amusing moments but otherwise it's meh.
  • I was gifted The Vagrant because the MC has big titties but the game is shitty chink garbage. Avoid.

Cruelty Squad is the shit.

Broforce is the shit.
Agreed. Need to jump back in it.
I was recommended the game Carrion. I got it and I think it kind of sucks. It's cool for a few minutes though.
I was crazy disappointed with this game. I was so excited and it just felt flat.
Buy Selaco.

You'll enjoy it.
Fuck yes.
Kenshi is the only game I play currently, i hope Kenshi 2 doesn't turn out to be vaporware/shitty. Might have to take a fawkin peek at the new S.T.A.L.K.E.R. (:image_4159:) game when it comes out, if it's not out already
Kenshi is fucking awesome. Can spend so much time doing whatever. Very cruel game too. Shame it's on a busted ass engine.
