I turned 57 in July. I have a 24 year old daughter who is a left wing nut job who will scream at you if you don't put an empty water bottle in the correct recycling container. Even though she grew up in a house where her mother and father spent a VAST amount of time doing nothing but trying to make each other laugh, she has no sense of humor and thinks any racial remark that is obviously intended to be funny, is racist.

I don't hate them. I just don't feel like they have anything original to offer and I basically tune them out of my life. They are irritating to be around, their culture, entertainment and politics suck, their opinions and principles, or lack thereof, are formed entirely from what they see online and if it isn't on Tiktok it might as well have never happened. They throw around buzzwords and clichés without any true grasp of what they are talking about. The first generation to broadcast their entire lives and yet they are a totally uninteresting and uninspiring.

That being said I do like a few of them. Maybe when they hit 30s, grow up and lose some of their more retarded values they'll be more likeable as a group.

The reason I know how to do that stuff is either because my parents made me learn it, or because I'd get bored and want to help my dad or whatever.

Entertainment is different now. It's all remarkably well optimised to consume as much of your time and headspace as possible. I think kids just don't get bored watching the screen any more and they won't participate in life unless you make them.

Yeah that's true. I think reality TV is to blame for that. But when I see how well some of these youtubers are doing in terms of views and how people follow their drama and shit, it makes me wonder if these people watching it have ever had a truly moving experience with art, music, film or theatre. Have they ever experienced anything close to catharsis? Because I have never once felt that while watching a youtuber/streamer.

I don't think the world being as fucked as it is now is a generational problem honestly. The combination of smartphones and social media has just fucked many peoples' brains irreparably. People have access to way too much information now and everyone thinks their retarded opinion is important and valid. Look at the most obnoxious people on social media - Patrick, Jackie, nana - they're all middle aged or older. If these people, who grew up before social media (and before the internet in Ant's case), have their minds completely warped by this technology, what chance is there for young people who never knew anything different?

tl;dr - Social media has made everyone retarded, not just zoomers and I have no idea what the answer to that problem is. There probably isn't one.
