Jackie really tried to use the Stern show as a springboard to a stand-up career. But he failed to realize that people were coming to his gigs because he was on the HSS, not because they heard his comedy on the HSS. The second he left the show, everyone stopped going to his gigs. He should have stayed on the show and ditched the daffy Bayville lifestyle and the comedy clubs, not the other way around. Being on the Stern show was the engine that drove his whole career and without that, he quickly became old news, a nobody. Of course, he eventually would have either quit or been forced out anyway, as by 2010 there was no place on the HSS for a guy who wrote fag, nigger and chink jokes for Howie, but he could have milked it for a while.

You would’ve thought he’d have realized that with Artie. His stand up never recovered after leaving Stern. Bob Levy, Craig Gass, Mitch Fatel, all these guys. Stop doing the show that keeps you popular and in the spotlight and the ticket count drops. Even Norton’s stand up career dwindled after OnA ended. But Jackie’s in his 70s. Does he really think he’d be doing the same shit he was back in the 90s?

Fuck all these needy old queens. Take your money, move down south somewhere and retire with dig-na-tee.

Howard was always 100% correct when he'd tell Jackie that his association with the Howard Stern Show was the only reason anyone outside of Bayville would book him. No one was going to those gigs because they genuinely liked Jackie's comedy, they were going there to goof on the zany character they heard every morning on the Stern show. Take that away and what's left? An annoying hooting moron screaming Polack jokes, that's what. Every single "iconic" Jackie bit involved him being goofed on, no one cares about his comedy act.

Jackie might have survived into the satellite era, but he never would have made it through Howie's "America's Got Talent" era. He would have done some racist gag at a stand-up gig, it'd have gone viral and Stern would have made a big show out of cutting ties with him and his "unacceptable" humor to score points with the woke faggot Twitter crowd. That wife of his might have stuck around for a while longer too, although she was always a vile twat anyhow.
