i used to not own a microwave as a weight loss method. when it's not so easy and convenient you don't eat as much. also one time i got in trouble for bringing ice cream into my model apartment. i was like 18.

I've gotten to where I know how much to cook and serve at dinner so there are hardly any leftovers. Any rare leftovers we do have I reheat stovetop and yes, eat from a plate. I am the dishwasher so it's no big deal. We have never owned a microwave.
