Not so. The American war of "Independence" actually ended in an amicable truce so commerce between the Anglo-Saxon dynasties in charge of both countries could resume. Propaganda for the hick immigrants from Ireland/the Mezzogiorno etc pushed a narrative of 1776 Independence Day to give them a sense of autonomy, but the same people stayed in charge. This state of affairs carried on nicely until 1960, Kennedy's election, necessary assassination and the resulting bursting of the fantasy bubble. The WASPs hung on for 8 more years, but then the Hebrews took over politically and economically. Now we are where we are.
