I'm currently at a wedding party about 500 miles from Kiev. You'd never know there was a war going on nearby. No one seems to care about it or even talks about it. The only mention I heard was some anti-Ukrainian sentiment because a Ukie youth raped and beat up a local girl while drunk and blamed it on the booze. Why he chose to flee westward instead of fighting is anyone's guess. Fat blowhards like Fat cry more about this on twitter while people within striking distance get on with their day to day lives.

I thought fighting age men weren’t allowed to leave. Weird that he was able to get out but I guess this horseshit has been going on for almost 2 years now.

I was offered a job in Poland and because of this war it takes about 15 months to process resident permit applications. They’re full and frozen for the foreseeable future. So, I can stay there (having applied) but I can’t leave and I don’t think it’s worth it. I’d rather go back home to Milwaukee and change careers, at this point.

This war is ridiculous and it infuriates me that Pat is all for it, is what I’m trying to say.

There were loads of Ukrainians and Belarusians working as unskilled labour in central Europe before the war started. Some went back to fight, some didn't. Also, plenty just ran away once it started.
