How does Reddit make money

The stock is stupid high right now and I have no idea how they make money. Looks like they had a 47% bump in daily active users in Q2 which supposedly means more ad revenues. Reddit is an objectively terrible website that ran the funniest sub r/opieandanthony off years ago and it’s only gotten unimaginably worse.

I want to buy some puts because I have to imagine the bump is all bots and alts but I must be missing something here because it makes literally no sense to me.

I wanted to buy puts shortly after the IPO, but it has kept rising inexplicably.

Trump is a big pusher of zero interest rate policy and even though Powell has a year and a half left he’s going to be cutting anyway. Further the stock market will probably partially price in faster and bigger rates by Trump’s next appointee, so it’s probably going to be a great time for money-burning businesses’ stocks.

I wouldn’t bet against it even though that’s the move for a rational market.

Reddit remains really popular with millenial women and a certain kind of man. The fact they remain pretty neutral while xitter and Facebook are involved in politics gives them a boost. Don't get me wrong. I fucking hate it. But the fact it's the only social media platform where I don't know the name of the person running it is sort of admirable.

So I took a look at insider buying on Nasdaq and Tencent has sold off almost 20% of their holdings since 11/1.

WWDD?

I'm not being facetious, I genuinely wanna know. Maybe I'm wrong. I just think it's a fair anonymous platform.
To add to your case, Twitter is basically a marketing platform for individuals, brands and institutions. The site being politically biased for many years and discriminating against the right therefore draw a lot of attention and criticism from those same people and entities.

Facebook was intended to be a networking site for regular people to use on a daily basis. Political bias therefore draws quite a bit of attention and furore too.

Reddit, by contrast, isn't intended for either but for anonymized accounts, to discuss interests. Nobody needs to use Reddit in the same way they do Facebook or Twitter. I think that plays a part in why Reddit being a heavily biased site has been taken more for granted with little opposition. There's no outcry to fix it like there was with Twitter.

They signed an agreement with OpenAi to use Reddit content. That's a lot of money for Reddit at no extra cost because all the posts and comments are done for free. I'm sure the failure of the faggy mod "strike" a while back helped the company, since it shows how addicted people are to providing free labor to the website.
That was the most cringe shit I’ve ever seen. They talked shit about starting a fucking union lmfao

I had a conceptual idea for a stream where 3 streamers would represent 3 different ideas of the internet. 1 was 4chan, one Kiwi Farms, I cast myself as Reddit because or my history with r/Opieandanthony and just randomly fucking with other subreddits. It almost happened but a certain elf bitch backed out.

I’ve been researching tonight so I saw this. They’re also using AI to translate content to different languages and are planning to do that with another 30 in 2025.

Still, the increase is from the user and ad rev increase in Q3, which has made them profitable for the first time. I’m still trying to make sense of it and the only thing I can think of is people were going to them for the election or Trump lawsuits?

Just knowing what I know about that site makes me insanely suspicious. The Chinese are selling out of it faster than you can say General Tsos chicken.
