I've never played it but I watched a few streams.

It seems kinda...gamey? What I mean is, you have to game the system in order to kill bad guys. It's like, you have to run into a room, hit a guy with a baseball bat, and run away. And the remaining bad guys don't chase you. And repeat. It's totally unrealistic and frankly unsatisfying.

Also it leans too much on the 'gritty realism' thing. We get it. You're on the set of a porn movie. Everyone is gross and mean and insensitive. At some point it crosses from 'realistic' into 'tiresome.'

Again, never played it, so this criticism is unfair. But that's my attitude from watching others play it.

it's what I call a "girlfriend game" very brief pick up and play but difficult enough its fun. Love it. Love the soundtrack. Great way to kill 15 minutes.

are the levels tight and fast paced like the first hotline miami, or are they wide open shooting galleries where you get killed off screen like the second?

The levels aren't as tight and fast as Hotline 1. The enemies aren't as deadly accurate in this game, and you also don't die in 1 shot.

I'll probably get part 2 when it's on sale.
