I once got stuck sitting next to a Dutch guy on a flight to Japan. Despite my obvious resistance to conversing with him he plowed ahead anyway and asked me at one point if I knew why everyone in Holland speaks English. Before I could even respond, he told me it's because "nobody in the world wants to learn Dutch."

Then he laughed uproariously at an episode of Mr. Bean to the point I wanted to open the emergency door and jump out because everyone in business class probably thought we were traveling together.
