He was actually convicted but they suspended all but one year of his seven year sentence (which he had already served in the East BR Parish jail). Yeah we handle this shit in Louisiana right. He was convicted of “involuntary” Manslaughter for that. The judge even said “I wish he was found Not Guilty by the Jury” a couple years later.
