Just checked his filmography. The last movie of his I watched all the way through was the BFG with my kids (inferior to the animated British version from the 80s - the only film adaptation of Dahl's work that he liked.) Before that it was War Horse, which was pretty forgettable. Never saw Lincoln or Bridge of Spies and nothing else he's done has any appeal. That Fabelmans shit looked unbelievably self-indulgent

Bobby Wise was a lot of great things, but that man made a movie drier than toast.

I don't get it, as Day The Earth Stood Still Wasn't, and Star Trek The Motion Picture (The Directors Edition, not that Theatrical rushed shit) wasn't either. But Andromeda Strain... I just didn't take to it.

Bridge of Spies sucked but Fabelmans was pretty good and so was his West Side Story.
