My gf has chosen this as her next SLOP to brainlessly consume. I watch it peripherally.
I remember I watched some of the original show, it could not have been this bad.

It seems like it completely relies on a woman's ability to not notice or care if something doesn't make sense

They still die very easily by stabbing thru the skull with a knife.
They've added the ability to stab through the skull any dull object. Like broomstick handles. It always goes in like a soft watermelon sound. Human skulls turn soft I guess.

People are constantly out-muscled by a zombie and fall to the ground.
While also in the show people are able to very lightly stop a zombie from walking towards them by holding a stick against them one-handed.

All "action" sequences make no sense.
They're never backed against a wall and surrounded, you can see the zombie-actors shuffling about 20ft away and then 1 second later one teleports on top of a character. It'd be one thing if they showed them getting closer, but it's always right away. Which is especially retarded considering all zombies walk slow as fuck, you know people can literally walk away. Few times in the show they have scenes where a person can easily scoot through a large group.
It's like you're never supposed to be looking at what's around the actors.

and if anyone mentions these episodes were made and coordinated mostly by men

Couldn't she pick up a new skill instead of wasting time on this? Or does she already have too many skills? Hah... women, eh?

The problem with the original is you could only go so many seasons with them trying to escape stupid zombies that barely move. Eventually you have to introduce the “bad humans” who become the main antagonist making the whole zombie aspect pretty much pointless.

How they were able to spawn more series’ off the original is beyond me. There is no way they are at all watchable

Every zombie show/movie/game resorts to the boring old trope that “actually, we are the real monsters” and they all do it as if it’s some profound interesting thing.

Fear was originally intended to show the fall of the apocalypse which was a great idea, they dropped that idea mid season and fast forwarded to the same time as the original series creating the same fucking show only worse

a lot of it was filmed in my area & i even passed by that barn truck stop every day while they were filming there. not even that could make me sit through more than 5 minutes of it
Didn't they fuck up and have someone die on some train tracks during filming? Or am I thinking of something different?

Edit: Different thing, they had a stuntman die, the train thing was same area and months before that. https://www.reuters.com/article/lif...ll-on-walking-dead-set-coroner-idUSKBN19Z24Q/

I liked the first few episodes because it took place during the initial stages of the outbreak. It seems like every zombie movie or show has to take place after society has already fallen apart which is boring.

The first three seasons are good. The third season is the best season of any Walking Dead show. After that they changed showrunners and it became so fucking bad, easily the worst seasons of any WD shows.
The original showrunner wanted to make a show about how normal people basically transforms into the kind of villains you'd see on the main WD show but that was abandoned after he left.

Just watch Fulci's zombie films and quit worrying about "realism" and "storytelling". Vomiting up your guts from an undead zombie priest who teleports > interpersonal relationships during a zombie outbreak.

Edit for context:

The zombie genre has always been boring because zombies have no personalities. Vampires are way more interesting but they get sorted into either romance or slapstick comedy these days.
Zombie stuff is more about the human characters struggling with the apocalypse than it's about the creatures. Problem is that compelling characters are hard to write. Dawn of the Dead (1978) watch pretty good because you care about the protagonists. The Walking Dead does nothing for me.

This is why Dawn of the Dead (1978) still rules. It's in the middle of the apocalypse getting out of control and revolves around a bunch of people going "fuck this shit" and deciding to haul ass.
