Does Anthony in his heart believe his life improved after the firing?

I don’t think he’s ever actually been happy. He just seems completely uncomfortable in his own skin, his income never changed that

Childhood Anthony was probably the most authentic Anthony.
It's funny to call him gay (he certainly is now ala Sue) but back then maybe he was just a sensitive kid. His dad was just an alcoholic rage monkey loser who shit on everything that was happier than him.

His recourse was to retreat into humor and block out all conflict possible. Most of his misery onward can be broken down into "scared little kid who never had a father." In a way, being part of OnA enabled this, because he got an insane amount of money for being a childish goofball and could throw said money at any problems that came his way instead of finally confronting his character flaws and overcoming them. It's like the rich kid paying other students to do his homework. Buying toys and gizmos, video gaming, building his mcmansion pillow fort, refusing to commit to a wife or kid, all a regressed personality to get back his ruined childhood. The Michael Jackson parallels are very strong.

Post-OnA the money started drying up. It was still more than enough for any mature person to live off of but he never learned to spend and save responsibly. The ridiculously high stimuli he could easily maintain during the job (5 figure blackjack hands, celebrity parties, all the newest tech) is now limited by his dwindling finances and even with a 6 figure bank account he can't reach those levels of dopamine highs again. That's probably why his drinking revved up: easy, cheap way to block out the pain instead of dealing with it. It's a therapist's job not to give up on you, but as realistic bystanders we can all see he's so entrenched he's just going to languish miserably til death.

Normally I'd feel pretty bad for him, but trauma-inspired or not, there's no sympathy for those who transplant pain onto others. Selfcuttinggirl, "you wouldn't fuck a thirteen year old???," Kurt Love, creep shots, the 16 year old, "he likes me because I look like a kid," guy is pedophelic out every orifice. He'll never truly pay for what he did, but dying miserable, afraid, and alone is close enough.

I've heard that at the time Cumia and Opester were making either 3 million or 5 million a year each, I assume they were making that kind of dough for at least 5 years after the Sirius and XM merger but I'm sure they were doing very well before that as well. For Cumia it afforded him a great lifestyle, thousands of fans, a staff that waited on him hand and foot and were his friends, celebrity access and celebrity friends, for him the job was piss easy as well, just turn up, be funny and be adored by everyone around you, man didn't even do show prep.

Now he has none of that, he has the stress of having to run and fund Compound Media, his fanbase is microscopic compared to what it once was, his finances are dwindling to such lows that some porn chick said she had more and nobody really gives a fuck about the guy unless they are hardcore O&A fans and even then half of that fanbase or more has turned on him.

For Anthony and Jim life has gotten worse, for Opie I think you could argue that life has improved for him though, he's gotten to see his kids grow up, no more stress of being the "boss" of the O&A show, he's lost his fame but doesn't seem to care too much about that, he's happy just doing his own thing. The Opester is the true winner out of all this and dare I say the most likeable by far...

The difference is is that Anthony and Jim were knieving little bastards hoping to take the O&A train to the grave, and it would be even better if Opie left. For Opie he just wanted to get the fuck off the show and start his own. And he did, then failed on Sirius and Westwood One, which no doubt hurt tremendously. But being away from fame and a job can be liberating. He doesn’t have to worry about how many people are listening, new listeners, retention, how that matches up to his salary, etc. He’s just hanging, man! He has enough money to at least live modestly to his death. He has a family he gets to watch grow up full time now. And he doesn’t have any hanger ons or fake friends smiling in his face while planning to take him out. Opie has talked tremendously about how the show passed him by, changed, etc. So I doubt he would have kept his fame if it meant staying in a show thats not even recognizable to you and which you’re barely a part of anymore.

Anthony and Jim don’t even come close. They’re doing shows they hate to stay afloat because they’re obsessed with the delusion of being famous. They pissed away their money so they need an income stream no matter how minor. They still deal with the fake friends bullshit who only like them for their money, if they have friends at all. They have no families or solid relationships. Everytime you see Ant talk about how miserable Opie is or how much of a loser he is it’s an insanely projected cope. Because a guy who got fired and made just as much as Ant did is completely content and happy with his life and doesn’t need to prove that to anyone.

Opie is the clear winner, but don't think for a second he truly appreciates his excellent living situation. He's STILL filming random dogshit not even because he likes it, but just for the one in a million shot at the voiral video. He can't enjoy his beach house or Manhattan high rise without taking multiple breaks to talk about "faaaaawkin Anthony" or Stern or whomever. He keeps throwing around the idea of trying another radio gig, concluding they wouldn't pay him his worth, and then throwing it around again.

You can tell even during the show he really didn't care much about being an artist or having fans. If Stern got to have hookers dildoing each other and he didn't, he'd walk off in insane jealousy. His only prerogative is being considered a "radio genius," whatever that is. It's what he harps on time and time again. "I've been doing this since I was faaawwkin eighteen." "WE came up with that first!" "Ugh, this smalltown radio show built for soccer moms does NOT understand how to run a faaawwkin show!"

But uhhh still better than being a demented pedophile or a gay worm who's never had A-list status to begin with.

This I definitely see but I understand where he’s coming from. Opie truly is a radio genius…ok, maybe not a genius like Albert Einstein but like I always say: Rogan was influenced directly by O&A and Rogan reinvented and popularized podcasting. And do you know who gets the credit if it ever gets brought up? Fucking Anthony. And I get it, he was 50% of the show and “the funny one.” But O&A isn’t O&A without the O. Rogans “Oh man I loved how you guys would have comics in to do whatever and it was a hang” is literally Opies creation and he rarely gets the credit he deserves on any of this. Is throwing poker chips some genius that should be praised? No. But basically reinventing the audio broadcast medium wether purposeful or not should be. Even Anthony doesn’t take credit for this when he rightfully should.

I suppose, though I'm not even sure Opie thinks about it from that angle.

But it is only right they both get the credit or neither of them, possibly even tagging Jimmy onto that for the golden age. People who go "FUCKING OPIE" in youtube comments or whatever only listen to what they hear on the show and aren't as autistic as us digging up what actually made it run behind the scenes. Time will reveal the truths.

Anyway, they should both realize that the means by which they chose to become famous: edge, vulgarity, and controversy, are never going to be officially appreciated or even recognized.
The only way Stern got it was by making his handlers billions and by kneeling and kissing the yamaka at every turn in the last 20 years.

I think Anthony is currently making more money than Opie, I appreciated Opie on OnA for all that we know he did. However Opie is now making like 50 bucks a week. Now my speculation is that Opie has managed his money better and currently has a more secure future than Anthony. Neither of them really have friends, Opie's either died or left him. Ant has Missy "cat shit keys" Muscles, Geno and Gavin. Colin never comes around, Ron is gone, Jimmy is gone the LOS guys still keep in touch but that's it.
Oh and Bobo he's always, faithful that Bobo

Seeking the approval and envy of other men is very important to Nana, for obvious reasons. Nana sees himself almost as a sort of fictional gangster, like from "Goodfellas" or "The Sopranos". He's an outlaw, a rebel, who plays by his own rules and writes his own code. Guys who live normal adult lives, with jobs and wives and kids, are dead, they have no balls. But in reality, he envies those men, which angers him, and seeks revenge by never growing up.

He lives like a college drop-out, in tiny dingy rooms. His alleged "longtime girlfriend" lives 800 miles away, in a house he paid for. He drinks constantly, stays up all night playing games, blows money in Vegas and AC, and spends the bulk of his time trolling on Twitter. Meanwhile, the same comics he used to regularly "match wits with" are married celebrities, with careers and kids, living lives Nana can only dream about. He's in his mid-60s, he has an alcohol problem, he has the physique of a garbage bag full of oatmeal, he can't sit in a room by himself for more than a few minutes without flying into a rage, and it's all catching up with him now.

Man I didn't even think of the niggermania.
Not sure how to diagnose that other than deflection from his own white trash upbringing. Or maybe it was where he first staked his flag as a "free speech maverick" and his wet brain has deteriorated to the point where his deepest thoughts are "niggers=bad" and laughs at their children dying.
