Pat talks about how a teacher once said he'd argue with a fence post. Not only is he too dumb to realize that's not something to brag about, he withheld the rest of the letter:
Dear. Mr. and Mrs. Tomlinson,
I have tried very hard but I just don't feel like Patrick has learned anything at all this year. Fortunately, his grades are good enough that he will probably just squeak by and never darken my doorstep again, but he doesn't seem to understand that his exhaustively combative behavior is why no one likes him. Not even the lunchroom staff. This hard head would argue with a fence post and after he lost, call it a child. I trust he will mature in high school, possibly even learn some problem solving skills, but he has certainly learned nothing from me. I just thought you should know the reality that the report cards don't show. Please get him some help, any help.
Wishing you and his future teachers all the best,
Mr. Owens
