Anyone who tries to convince others that their interpretation of issues surrounding the Civil War is the correct interpretation doesn't deserve to be taken seriously. Much of history is like that. Everyone likes glib, simplistic factoids to parrot, but few make any effort to understand differing points of view or different perspectives, because for a lot of people, thinking is just too much work. No one wants to be challenged, they just want to win arguments with snappy, wise replies.

I’m not going to have a discussion with someome who isn’t mature enough to discuss things without making things personal or letting their emotions get the better of them.

That’s the whole problem with modern day debating. Everyone is so convinced of their own correctness they’ll lose any sense of critical thinking, especially towards themselves.
