One of those Compound drama podcaster cocknozzels put the clip up:
"Me and Jimmy are inseperable"
I said this in another thread, but Bill and Patrice didn't seem particularly tight. I know they were buddies but Patrice seemed closer with Norton, Bobby and Vos.
The degree of irritation Patrice showed over Burr teasing him on the Mancow show has me inclined to agree they weren't as tight as some of the others. Also makes me think they're all a bunch of "dish it but can't take it" pussies.
Except Vos.
Yep. He earned his exile. Maybe you’re right and they didn’t all realize at the time that he wasn’t entirely joking.
I didn’t mean to make him out to be a victim, this is his own doing and it is deserved.
Also, in defense of the comics who never said anything at the time, he’s way way worse now. Hell. The difference between 2007 Anthony and 2012 Anthony is amazing when you listen back to old shows. I think I said this in another comment but it’s true. Anthony of 2007 wouldn’t recognize or tolerate the current Anthony.
But I do have a very hard time believing that these comics didn’t know, especially towards the end, that it was no longer a joke.
There was a not insignificant portion of the show’s fan base that were walking away from Opie and Anthony because of his racist rants
It became way too much even for people who had listened to them for more than a decade. It’s not impossible that these guys had never noticed - I just find it so unlikely.
Now guys like Bill Burr weren’t listening to the show when they weren’t in, I get that. They weren’t obsessively listening to hours and hours of Opie and Anthony every week like a lot of the fans. So I’m probably barking up the wrong tree here, I just can’t believe a smart guy like Bill Burr wouldn’t have finally pieced it together that this was real, that Anthony is a legitimate racist even as early as 2010.
And then here’s the other thing, some of them, like Joe DeRosa, did again associate with Anthony at least somewhat even after his firing and after his show on compound became incredibly racist, and then ditched him again later. Did they forget in the middle?
I have no problem with them ditching him for being a racist. I have no problem with them ditching him for being irrelevant. The problem I have is ditching him because he’s irrelevant but pretending it’s because of racism. To be fair, maybe that’s not what’s happening. Maybe they really didn’t understand how racist he was until 2014.
And I know we make fun of Nia here but if anyone of us were friends with Burr in real life that's the last thing we would do.
