nobody who is a subject matter expert in anything calls themselves an "SME" it's a bullshit phrase for consultants when they bill clients. You are a principal engineer, or the most common would be a "domain architect". something like that.

They billed him as as "sme" to clients to upcharge them and he thinks hes an expert. It's like giving the retard who works at Mcdonald's a "maintenance engineer" title.
